A mini-stroke is a smaller version of a full-blown stroke.
The affected person will experience the same stroke symptoms & signs. But those disappear quickly. As a result, the person returns to normal.
What happens here is that the blood supply is cut off to the brain for a few seconds and then it will be restored because the block becomes cleared.
The mini-stroke is also called TIA in short by health care workers. It refers to Transient Ischemic Attack.
This situation does not cause permanent brain damage because the blood supply will be restored quickly.
However, it should be considered a medical emergency because the person is at risk of getting a full blown stroke within the next 48 hours.
