Above is the latest recommendation from the UK NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence).

But, there is a catch.
This guideline also recommends not to offer “high-intensity” moves.
What are “high-intensity” moves?
It refers to very early moves. It includes moves within 24 hours of the stroke. The moves refer to at least 3 additional out-of-bed sessions compared to usual care.
These out-of-bed activities are sitting, standing, walking etc.

The Australian Clinical Guidelines give more concrete recommendations.
Here it is;
However, the Australian Clinical Guidelines2 strongly recommends not starting intense out-of-bed activities within 24 hours of the incident; instead, start such activities between 24 – 48 hours of the event.
